1 · The deadline

critical

Know your last legal day

Count from your entry stamp, visa-free allowance, or visa expiry — whichever governs your status. ChinaCopilot does not auto-calculate this; photograph documents and verify with Exit-Entry if unclear.

critical

Confirm whether extension is even possible

Not every status can be extended locally. Visa-free stays, transit, and some short visas have hard ends. Some visitors must exit and re-enter under a new category instead.

2 · Paper pack

critical

Assemble the usual document pack

City practice differs. Typical asks include passport, current visa/entry proof, lodging registration, photos, application form, and sometimes a sponsor letter or itinerary.

3 · Where to go

critical

Contact Exit-Entry / your sponsor

Start with the people who already know your file: hotel front desk, university international office, or employer HR. Then go to the local Exit-Entry Administration that serves your registered address.

recommended

While waiting: do not change address casually

Moving apartments mid-process can force re-registration and confuse your file. Stay reachable on your mainland phone number.

4 · If you cannot extend

critical

Have an exit plan ready

If extension is refused or impossible, leave before the last legal day. Switch to the Leave checklist immediately.
